| Course Introduction |
Microrobotics is one of the most promising emerging areas in the fields of micro and nanotechnology. With the potential to revolutionize medical procedures, small scale manipulation using microrobots is becoming a trend for developing new technologies for minimally invasive surgeries. This course will discuss the current progress in the field of Microrobotics, as well as cover both theories and experiments including aspects from fluids, controls, design, microfabrication, nanofabrication, imaging and tracking, and analytical techniques. Students will be expected to complete weekly assignments including reading course material, writing short paper reviews, and solving problems. The course will include a course project which will involve the design of a theoretical microrobot by taking into account the design considerations discussed throughout the course. Students will be evaluated based on their assignments and course project. No midterm or final examinations will be given.
